Regardless of the incidence, the general hygiene rules and recommendations as well as special consideration keeping your distance, use corona tests and pay attention to hygiene are the most important protective measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Clinical or FFP2 masks are mandatory in enclosed public spaces, e.g. in shops, restaurants, cultural institutions, sports facilities, body care service facilities and on public transport.

The Brandenburg state government has passed the ordinance on temporary basic measures to protect against infection. It is valid until June 23, 2022.

Accordingly, all passengers in local public transport must wear an FFP2 mask. The only exceptions to this are

  • Children under 6 years old.
  • Deaf and hard of hearing people, their companion and, if necessary, people who communicate with them.
  • People who are unable or unreasonable to use an FFP2 mask, surgical mask or mouth and nose cover due to a disability or for health reasons. This must be proven on site by means of an original written medical certificate.
  • Personnel if the spread of transferable droplet particles is reduced by suitable technical devices with the same effect as wearing a surgical mask.

All other measures have now been lifted. However, please note: Tourist and gastronomic providers as well as cultural institutions have the possibility to define protective measures via their domiciliary rights. It may still be necessary to wear a mask. We therefore recommend that you inform yourself before visiting the websites of the providers and have an FFP2 mask ready as a precaution.

Are there entry regulations to Germany?

Visitors arriving from high-risk, high-incidence or virus variant areas abroad must register online at einreiseanmeldung.de before entering the country and carry proof of registration with them. Where digital registration is not technically possible, a paper alternative is available. After arriving in Brandenburg, visitors from high-risk and high-incidence areas must immediately go into quarantine for ten days. This can be ended early with a negative test, proof of recovery or proof of vaccination (transmitted via the website einreiseanmeldung.de). For anyone arriving from a high-incidence area, the test and subsequent lifting of quarantine restrictions cannot take place until five days after arrival at the earliest.
